In
1939, Don Ignacio Rodríguez Soto realized that modern housewives
did not want to continue to make the time-consuming homemade
recipe of Dulce de Leche, and were demanding a product they
could buy at their grocer's. Don Ignacio set up Establecimientos
San Ignacio S.A. near his hometown of Rosario, in the Province
of Santa Fe, right in the middle of the dairy region of Argentina.
His company has grown since then and now the state-of-the-art
plant in Sauce Viejo produces 12,000 tons a day of Dulce de
Leche. San Ignacio is the third largest Dulce de Leche producer
in Argentina and the largest producer of Dulce de Leche for
industrial use. San Ignacio is the world's largest supplier
of Dulce de Leche for the confectionery sector, satisfying
the requirements of demanding customers such as Arcor, Wal-Mart,
Kibon (Brasil) and McDonald's amongst other.

A
exceptional product and manufacturing practices complying
with EU health and safety standards allowed San Ignacio to
export Dulce de Leche for the first time in 1978 to Germany.
In 2002, it has selected Building Bridges (UK) Ltd. as the importer and distributor of its Dulce de Leche range.
